Marathon of The North »

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2013 Marathon of the North, Half Marathon and Sunderland City 10K. It was a fabulous day and even the blustery conditions couldn’t wipe the smiles from thousands of faces as they crossed the line, tired but elated.

A minute silence was held at the start of two main races to remember those who were killed and injured in the bomb attack on the Boston Marathon, and was impeccably observed. Many competitors wore commemorative blue and yellow ribbons or found other ways to show their support.

Despite the conditions not being conducive to fast racing the three events were keenly contested and full results can be found here.

The organisers would like to thank all those who made it such a brilliant day including competitors, spectators and of course our marshals and volunteers without whom, the whole thing would be impossible to stage.

There will be more detailed coverage of the weekend shortly but for the meantime, well done to everyone and roll on 2014.
